I never have buttermilk on hand, and if you're here, you're in good company...

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 tablespoons lemon juice OR distilled white vinegar
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions
 

  • Pour milk into a measuring cup, add in 1.5 tablespoon(s) lemon juice OR distilled white vinegar.
  • Allow the mixture to sit at room temperature until the milk begins to curdle (around 10-15 minutes).
  • Substitute in place of buttermilk for baking, marinating, sauces, and more! Can be stored in the fridge for a day or two but I recommend making it as you need it!
